Program Overview

Engines are the heart of every aircraft, and the Aviation Powerplant Mechanics program teaches you how to keep them operating safely and efficiently. You’ll gain hands-on experience with piston and turbine engines, fuel systems, ignition systems, and propeller assemblies. Training emphasizes FAA standards, precision measuring, and troubleshooting techniques that are essential for high-stakes aviation environments. Upon completion, you’ll be prepared for the FAA Powerplant certification exam, opening the door to opportunities in commercial airlines, private aviation, and aerospace manufacturing.

Program Structure and Courses

This program is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of two occupational completion points. The Aviation Maintenance General Technician (AMT0705) course is the core course. This program is comprised of courses which have been assigned course numbers in the SCNS (Statewide Course Numbering System) in accordance with Section 1007.24 (1), F.S. Career and Technical credit shall be awarded to the student on a transcript in accordance with Section 1001.44 (3) (b), F.S.
